Cristin Morgan

I'm Cristin Morgan, fiber artist, illustrator, and author of Hoop Dreams: Modern Hand Embroidery. I live and stitch in beautiful Richmond, Virginia. I love what I do, and it is an honor to share it with you!

I'm a lifelong crafter with a deep love for making things. I've been embroidering since elementary school, mostly just for fun, but professionally since 2015. I'm self-taught, which means that over the years I've practiced and practiced some more until I've landed on a style and method that works for me. Embroidery is a traditional medium, but I love that there is plenty of room for exploration and innovation. I still love experimenting and learning and incorporating new methods and materials. The possibilities are truly endless!

My work is influenced by many things, but most often I find inspiration in the colors and textures of the materials I use. I really love using vibrant color palettes in my work, along with bold and clean shapes. I find it so satisfying to bring a simple, stylized shape to life with texture and color!

When I'm not embroidering, I play roller derby for River City Roller Derby here in Richmond. (My derby name is Needle & Dread!) Other things I love include: animals, nature, adventures, and vegan snacks. I want to live in a tiny house some day.
