Jan Wilker

My name is Jan Wilker and I am co-founder and creative director at karlssonwilker, a multidisciplinary independent design studio in New York, founded in 2000 together with Icelander Hjalti Karlsson.

My studio's projects include celebrated projects for global companies and cultural institutions, including Samsung, Bloomberg, MINI/BMW, Remai Modern, Museum of the Moving Image, Nintendo, New York Times Magazine, Vitra, Reykjavik Art Museum, and Swatch.

I'm a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 2009. In the past, I taught at Cooper Union, the School of Visual Arts, and Parsons School of Design, and served as a judge for a multitude of award shows, including the CLIO Awards, Red Dot Design Awards, TIGDA Awards, Art Director’s Club and Adobe Design Achievement Awards. In addition, I frequently hold design workshops and give lectures on design around the world. Just a few years ago my studio was voted one of Top 20 most influential design studio of the past 20 years, by CA Magazine, UK.

I grew up in Ulm, Germany, and attended Stuttgart University’s Architecture School and later graduated from the State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart in Communication Design.
