Nicole Vindel

Nicole Vindel (1992) is a visual artist who explores new narratives on socio-environmental urgencies through food culture. Born in Guatemala, she grew up in Spain and lives between New York, Spain and latino america. Her strong connection to intersectionality led her to highlight everyday expressions to reflect on deeper dimensions around geopolitics, culture or ecology.
Vindel's practice advocates beauty to question our place in space and has been described by Vogue Spain as “a food artist who combines intellectual and formal beauty to generate cognitive conflict.” By incorporating living elements such as food, light and water into her art, Vindel creates a sculptural or performative body of work where food elements are adapted to each context.
Her work has been exhibited at the Mansfield Art Center (Ohio, US), Tate Exchange (London, UK), Rebirth Forum by Tercer Paraíso (Havana, CU), Fundación Foodcultura (Barcelona, ES) and Feria Marte (Valencia, ES).
She is co-founder of Random Happiness, an artistic collective that uses happiness as a revolutionary tool, and member of the BASC Barcelona collective.
Extending her artistic practice, she teaches at Elisava, LCI and IED Barcelona. Each space becomes part of her reflection on the emerging transformations in our society.
